UNIVERSITY SECONDARY SCHOOL, EKPOMABRIEF HISTORY OF UNIVERSITY SECONDARY SCHOOL, EKPOMA.

AAUSS was established in October 1983. It was supposed to take off temporarily in the premises of the University primary school at Irrua. However, due to unforeseen problems, the school finally started classes on a temporary site in a rented building along Ikhirolo road, Ekpoma on the 14th of November 1983 with 70 students and (2) arms of form 1.

The school was later moved to the Emaudo campus just overlooking the University farm until October 1997 when the school was moved to its present location (The former school of Agriculture) along ihumudumu road, Ekpoma, Edo state.  It presently runs classes from Jss I to SS. 111 with a student population of over 1,200 students.

The first principal in 1987 is  Mr. DBE Ossai to whom we owe the school motto. “The key is in your hand” He was succeeded in 1989 by Mrs. P. O. Alegimenlen, who was retired in October 2000.

Her immediate Assistant, Mr. S. A Imonitie took over as Acting Principal and later became the third substantive head from 1 June 2004. He was retired in 2010 and was succeeded by  Mr. F. Itaman who steered the ship until retirement in 2018. He was replaced by the current principal of the school, Mr. D. M Akhidenor who retired on 1 July 2021
